#digitaleinclusie

Wachtwoord of pincode vergeten!

  • At the #IdentityWeek in Amsterdam, it was clear that the European Digital Identity Wallet (#EUDIW) discussion is maturing. We’re transitioning into implementation with a defined direction—though challenges ahead remain 🛣️ Wouter Vanderheere, CFO at itsme®, captured it well: “With the dust settling on new EU regulations like #eIDAS2 and the upcoming #FIDA, we’re entering a world full of wallets and vaults. Users and organisations need simple, secure ways to share data, and digital ID providers like itsme® are well placed as trusted intermediaries.” Below we share our main takeaways from the event: 1️⃣ Individuals remain central EUDIW’s core value is empowering citizens to control and securely share their identity data. Governments and organisations follow. This aligns with the EU’s commitment to digital autonomy and data protection. 2️⃣ Public-private partnerships are key Most experts support hybrid models where governments provide trust and oversight, and private companies drive innovation, speed, and expertise. As Emiel Coppieters, itsme® Innovation Lead, highlighted: “The private sector is crucial to making government frameworks successful—bringing wallets to private markets and adding services like credential issuing.” However, some countries (e.g., the Netherlands) prefer government-only approaches, which may limit future flexibility. 3️⃣ Adoption still faces hurdles While foundational elements are in place, key barriers include: – Lack of clear, everyday use cases for citizens and businesses – Trust issues, especially cross-border – Technical challenges around onboarding, security, and standards – Limited familiarity with wallet concepts—even among professionals 4️⃣ Business models need clarity Wallets must be free for citizens, but who funds development, maintenance, and integration remains unresolved. For businesses to engage, wallets must offer clear value—such as streamlined onboarding, fraud reduction, or improved customer experience. Wouter adds: “New EU Large Scale Pilots, such as the #WEBUILD consortium, are launching soon and will address key use cases like payments. The #EUBusinessWallet promises to simplify business processes and build trust, though its integration with the broader #DigitalWallet ecosystem is still evolving.” 5️⃣ Payments and identity are converging Digital identities are already used for Strong Customer Authentication (#SCA) in payments, with eIDAS accelerating this trend. Emerging models position identity wallets at the centre of payment experiences, enhancing UX and assurance in collaboration with major payment providers. At the event, our CISO Olaf Jonkers joined a roundtable on how eIDAS 2.0’s new identity verification requirements will disrupt the Qualified Trust Service Provider (QTSP) landscape, reshaping competition by advantaging some providers while challenging others, and examined how QTSPs are gearing up for these shifts. #digitalID #itsme #EU #StrongCustomerAuthentication #Payments

Bits and pieces from Partner Campus 2025, hosted by our partner and digital transaction management leader Namirial in Paris 🇫🇷 A key highlight was the announcement of the partnership between Namirial and itsme® in a keynote—revealing that itsme® will be integrated into Namirial’s SignEnterprise digital signature platform to offer Qualified Electronic Signatures (#QES) for customers in the Benelux region. We enjoyed the insightful sessions on digital trust, trust as a service, resilience, and compliance—topics that are more relevant than ever in today’s digital landscape. Between sessions, we had great conversations at the #eSignature booth, connecting with fellow experts and partners from across the digital trust ecosystem. A special thanks to the Namirial team—especially: Matteo Panfilo, Klaus Fellner, Valentina Reyna, Christoph Bimminger, Marco Scognamiglio, and Manju' Rizzi. We look forward to a spectacular partnership ahead 🚀 #DigitalTrust #ESignature #TrustAsAService #Compliance #QES #NamirialPartnerCampus #PartnerCampus2025 #TAAS #trustasaservice
